Hope;

For creating this atmosphere I utilized point of view shots, close up shots,  this technique helped form an emphasis the impact on the soldiers and their families. As close up  shots allow people to truly view an individuals emotions and help them empathize with how it would feel to be amid the war themselves. The music i have chosen for this atmosphere is Missed Soldier by Benjamin Boning, I believe that the tone of this piece helps highlight the chosen clips.

Grief;

For creating this atmosphere I utilized tracking shots, this technique again helped form an emphasis the impact on the soldiers and their families. As the tracking shots allow people to witness a larger portion of the surroundings, and the magnitude of the damage done within war zones.with the dissolving feature between each empathising the atmosphere created. The music i have chosen for this atmosphere.s . The music i have chosen for this atmosphere is Yuki Kajiura-Hear Our Prayer. I beileve that this piece complements the chosen clips nicely.

Fear;

For creating this atmosphere I utilized point of view shots, 'pov'  this technique helped form an emphasis the impact on the soldiers and their families. As 'pov' shots allow people to empathize with how it would feel to be amid the war yourself, allowing the viewer to get a grasp of the violence taking place. The ‘pov’ shots will contain extremes, from fast to slow movement, helping the viewer identify with the unpredictability of the war grounds. The music i have chosen for this atmosphere is Clint Mansell - Requiem for a Dream Remix, I beileve that the suspence that is created within this piece highlights the chosen clips nicely.

Concept description;

The theme I have chosen to display throughout the three short clips is War.  The three atmospheres I have selected mimic the emotions felt during and after a war has occurred; Fear, grief and hope. To demonstrate fear I will utilize point of view shots (‘pov’), thus empathizing how it would feel to be amid the war yourself, and to get a grasp of the violence taking place. The ‘pov’ shots will contain extremes, from fast to slow movement, helping the viewer identify with the unpredictability of the war grounds. Grief, the second atmosphere being created will be displayed through the use of darkened, slow tracking shots. These will contain pathetic fallacy, therefore creating a gloomy monotone throughout. The tracking shots showing the morning families will be utilized throughout to help the viewer understand where the grief is coming from. Finally, hope will be demonstrated through the use of a fade in between shots. During this the image will brighten to full strength, creating an uplifting effect.  Pull back shots will also be employed during, as the camera will track back from a subject revealing the context of the scene, as people are waiting for love ones to return, and for peace amongst the societies. This is where the hope will be created. Throughout the three atmospheres’ the background music will be a dominant factor into producing the ambience desired.

Theme, and atmosphere brainstorm;

endangered animals - sad, hope, happy,playful, aggressive

natural disasters - fear, grief, hope, anger

japanese geisha - discipline, beauty, their promiscuous nature

war -  violence, fear, grief, hope, anger

Project One; Iterate

First assignment: Iterate (3 x 1 minute videos)
Create three iterations of a one-minute digital video using found footage. The objective of this video is to learn the principles of editing and explore video libraries from the Public Domain and Creative Commons.
Each video is to focus on one editing technique only, though the content of all three videos will follow the same conceptual theme. Your chosen editing techniques should create or enhance a specific atmosphere for each iteration. Part-way through the project you will digitally submit a written paragraph outlining your approach to the assignment
